Welcome entrepreneurs and those seeking to become successful entrepreneurs,
J V Crum III, small business coach and leadership coach here to discuss the third type of consciousness: social consciousness. An increasing number of entrepreneurs are focusing on solving social problems in a way that is entrepreneurial.
Social Consciousness – is a consciousness that results from being mindful, or concerned, about how your actions affect the whole of humanity. Because of our understanding of quantum physics, we are now conscious of the fact that you and I are part of an interconnected whole – a seamless web of life.
This is the energy field that connects you, me, and everything that is on this planet. In addition, it connects us each of us to our planet.
As a result, we now realize that there is no such thing as a small action. This is because everything that you and I do literally affects everything else – both now, and into the unfolding future.
What it means for you to be socially consciousness is personal because it is directly tied to what you value. How you choose to help other people, all the earth’s inhabitants, and our environment is unique for each person.
It is the conscious choice to reach out and make a difference that is what is meant by being socially conscious.
When you volunteer your time or give needed money and resources to help with a social cause, you are acting from a sense of social consciousness. Likewise, when you purchase earth-friendly products or choose them because the people who made them were paid a fair waged, you are also acting with a social consciousness.
However, social consciousness is now expanding beyond personal acts that make a difference. It is now emerging as a new way to do business that results from combining the business motive to create a profit with a social motive to make a difference.
Many of these new businesses are being created by small business entrepreneurs. Others are emerging from business incubators and are being funded by venture capitalists.
Areas such as sustainable lifestyles, organic foods, green products and manufacturing, environmentally friendly building practices, alternative fuels, eco-travel, holistic health, human potential, personal or spiritual growth, and many other emerging areas are frequent focal points of the socially responsible business movement.
In addition, many business owners are adding socially conscious dimensions to their businesses by adopting green practices – such as eco-friendly lighting, products, and business practices.
Likewise, many businesses are choosing to donate some percentage of their profits to a specific cause. Another way in which businesses and organizations are making a difference is by creating a community project as a way to give back and help others.
All of these are ways to extend what it means to be a Conscious Millionaire to include becoming socially conscious.
If taking a social entrepreneur path feels right to you, I invite you to contact me to discuss how Conscious Millionaire can help you design and build your business.
