THIS IS THE RUN DOWN APARTMENT BUILDING I LIVED IN FOR A YEAR WHILE IN GRAD SCHOOL BACK IN 1977-78.
THREE YEARS LATER, 1981, I WAS LIVING IN A NEW LUXURY TOWNHOUSE I HAD JUST PURCHASED WHICH OVER LOOKED TAMPA BAY AND BOUGHT MY FIRST MERCEDES.
HOW MUCH WILL YOUR LIFE, FINANCES, AND BUSINESS CHANGE IN THE NEXT THREE YEARS?
TODAY IS YOUR DAY TO MAKE THAT COMMITMENT!!!
Hello J V,
This is a longer blog; however, it can change your perspective and your financial destiny!!!

BECAUSE IN ADDITION TO CHANGE YOUR MINDSET, YOU COULD WIN A $450 COACHING WITH ME!
Imagine with me that I was 23, going to graduate school in Los Angeles to study clinical psychology, living in a small studio apartment located two blocks from Graham’s Chinese Theater. It was 1977-78 and Hollywood was a real dump which is the only reason I could afford to live in this area.
The apartment building I lived in had a sign outside stating “Deluxe Apartments”. In Los Angeles, that was “code” for cheap, run down, and low quality.
Back then, I was the poster child for the starving graduate student. The studio apartment was $165 a month and I can still see it in my mind. The carpet was orange shag; there were two flat beds that came together underneath a corner table. They had orange covers which matched the drab orange draperies on the one window.
It was a large window; however it looked out across a ten foot air shaft directly into another apartment’s window. So, I kept the draperies shut all of the time. And, because I had already experienced several somewhat “crazy” roommates (Los Angeles was filled with people who were living on a strange angular view of life), I was actually glad to have my own place!
And, as depressing as the studio could be at times, my biggest memory was of my food budget. I actually lived on $5 a week for an entire year. I had a strategy for how to do this. I had quickly realized that Mexican food was cheap to make so I went up to several Mexican women at the grocery store and asked them how to cook the beans and make burritos and salsa.
Every week I went down to the “central market” in downtown LA because it was the cheapest place to buy food in the entire city. I would buy enough beans to make twelve burritos. Then I would purchase two heads of lettuce for $0.39 and twelve flour tortillas. I would literally soak the beans for 48 hours so that they became as big as possible. Then I would cook all my ingredients and for a total of $2 I made my twelve burritos.
During this time, I had my dreams of making millions and living well. I would take my yellow Datson B210 (the only reason I had purchased it was Datosn shipped 1,000s to the port of LA and by $100, it was the cheapest car sold in America – $3,200!) so I would take drives in the nearby Beverly Hills to look at the amazing mansions.
One day I was driving in Beverly Hills and came up to a four way stop. It was me in my yellow cheap car and what drove up to the other three stops? Yeah, you guessed it. Three Rolls Royce automobiles. Part of me wanted to crawl up under the seat and another part of my knew that I belonged in one of those Rolls Royce automobiles!
Now fast forward to September 27, 2012 – just a couple of weeks ago. I had flown in for Gary Ryan Blair’s event which was being held at the Lowe’s Hotel on the corner of Highland and Hollywood Blvd. (This was an area in which I was literally held up one night back in 1978.)
Now, I have been so busy perparing for the event that I did well to just make all the reservations. Other than deciding I would need a rental car, I didn’t pay any attention to where specifically the hotel was located. It wasn’t until I turned off of the freeway and past the Hollywood Bowl that it all dawned on me.
When I got out of the car at the hotel, I stood next to the car in total shock. It was midnight so it was too dark to go exploring but I realized I was literally standing 3 blocks from where I used to live when I was in grad school!!!
Gary’s program didn’t begin until 1 pm. So, the first thing I did when I woke on Friday was to take that three block west on Hollywood Blvd then north on Sycamore Ave. One half of a block up and there it was on the right, still standing: “Sycamore Apartments”. However, the sign had changed from “deluxe” all the way up to “luxury”.
I stood there almost in shock. My mind rushed through all that had occurred in the three years after I left that apartment. My father’s company had not been doing well and he asked me if I would help him. I took over general management at the age of 23.
In the first year (one filled with note making on what was working and what wasn’t) I figured out how to pay off nine years of liens, quadruple the business, start a related business in the fourth month, and turn a six figure profit.
Within three years, I owned a new luxury townhouse on Bayshore Blvd, overlooking the bay, owned a Mercedes, and had manifested a totally different life for myself.
That’s when my mind shifted. If I had accomplished all that in just three years – never having had a business course, read a business book or business article, what could I accomplish in the next three years?
I immediately sent the photos to a few friends asking them what could each of us accomplish in the next three years.
NOW, the really important part of this email isn’t about me – it’s about YOU!
Have you ever had a time when your life turned a corner and in the next short period of time you accomplished far more than you ever had before? If you have, ask yourself how much MORE you can accomplish in the NEXT THREE YEARS – given all that you have learned since then and all the new resources and people in your life NOW!!!
And, if you haven’t had that experience yet, now is the time for you. Folks, this is really a matter of getting committed to your own life and making a DECISION RIGHT NOW that you are ready to make a major change, to turn a corner, to start living and achieving at a new, higher level.
I KNOW both from personal experience and from seeing what other people, including my clients, have accomplished in a short period of time, that YOU can achieve a MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH in the next 30 days – then carry that breakthrough forward to create breakthrough after breakthrough for the next 3 years !!

JV, I don’t know where I was supposed to put my breakthrough commitment, so I am putting it here. I am committed to breakthrough on where I am in my business and finances in 30 days or less from today, October 22nd, 2012.
I look forward to working with you more.
Thanks,
Matt
I am an American with a disability, but I have an amazing knack for brewing mead(Honey wine), and will be starting a small apiary in the spring to start producing the honey I need. Our long term goal is to start a sustainable project farm to take these concepts to a professional level. What I plan to do as a breakthrough in the next 30 days is to completely shake off the mindset that being physical disabled will limit my success in any way, and start aligning my thoughts towards a solid positive mental attitude that I can maintain in all aspects of life.
